Professionalism Goes Down The Toilet with a Powerful Flush

Lack of professionalism today.

Professionalism doesn’t seem to be important anymore. For example, I work for a temporary help agency. I was placed at a company and was there for 18 months.  More than 2500 hours.  I had scheduled three days off.  The were Thursday, Friday, and a Monday.  I called off on the Tuesday because I was in the hospital so I told my manager that I would be available to work Friday and Saturday.  He said just to come in on the Tuesday I was scheduled to come back.  So Tuesday came around I drive across town to work at 5 pm.  I walk in to find someone else sitting at the desk I occupied for almost two years.  Imagine the shock I had.  I went to talk to the manager I said so I will clean out my desk?  He said yes.  I said Could I have been notified that the contract ended?  No response.  Yes I work for a temp agency, no reason need to be given and no amount of time to say your let go.  Yet, I would still have to give a two weeks notice if I was ending the contract. The lack of professionalism that I wasn’t informed, I was flabbergasted.  If I was told your contract would be ending on such and such a date I wouldn’t have a story to tell.  I found out that the lady who has the job I had was trained two weeks before coming to the job.  That ticked me off more.  Two weeks I could have worked on getting another position before leaving the company instead of without a job today.  What happened to the professionalism these days?  Where being informed was important?  Where language and dress was important as well?  Where working hard for your job meant job security?  Now a days there is not much of it at all.  Shoot walk in talking slang, dressed sloppy, and be lazy is the what seems to be the qualifications for a long lasting job.  So I ask again what happened to the professionalism these days? I will tell you in the toilet with a Power Flush.
