Stay Happy At Work

Work is something we all experience. It can be the long and mind-numbing eight hour shifts or it can even be the short four hours that feel like eternity.

A lot of people just go to work to earn money and do not worry about creating a positive environment for themselves, as well as other people around them. But no matter what, the supervisor or the manager cannot see the unhappiness that is floating in the work environment. And when they do, it is most likely that the person who is always grumpy and never has the “excellent customer service smile” on their face will get fired. That happy attitude is what attracts people in the first place, and what passed that very important first interview with flying colors. In other words, it is the employee’s responsibility to create the happy and fun environment at work. Not only will it make the time fly by, but it is going to be a great beginning or an end to a new day. Proper diet, positive thinking, and rewarding yourself are the three major steps involved in gaining a happy attitude.

The first step in achieving a happy attitude is of course a healthy and proper diet. A proper diet consists of food, water, sleep, and exercise. To ensure that one gets all the healthy vitamins and energy to work, try to stay away from fast food. Not only does fast food clogs up the arteries in one’s body, but it is also a fast way to get food poisoning. Also, fast food is filled with preservatives that make the food last longer, which is not very healthy for the body. Consuming a lot of refined foods like sugar is also not healthy for the body. For example, sugar does give the body a lot of energy, but once it leaves the body it makes the energy level go down which causes that familiar feeling of fatigue. Instead, try to eat an apple or a favorite fruit, which is also good for the brain, as a quick snack. Next, drink a lot of water. Keeping oneself hydrated keeps those nasty cold bugs away and avoids dehydration. Another good idea is to get plenty of sleep. Sleep restores the lost energy that one looses through out the work day. It is recommended to get eight to nine hours of sleep each day. Taking a nap through out the afternoon is also a good strategy in order to be in a better mood. Finally, do not forget to exercise. Exercising keeps one in a better shape as well as promoting a better self image. This trains the body through the work outs, resulting in not feeling overwhelmed when faced with a physical work challenge. Following a proper diet and nutrition of food, water, sleep, and exercise not only indulges the body but also prepares it for a hard working day.
