Teaching is a Unique Profession

Teaching is a profession that is not for the person who wants merely to get rich,  or for the person who just wants a job, or an individual who has no vision. The teachers of a society are the visionaries.  They are the people who want to change the world by working with the people who will shape the future.  I believe that teaching is a way in which our present actions have the opportunity to influence the future of our society.  In order to shape these young minds, a teacher must not teach in the accepted steps that were upheld in the past.  Just as the teaching profession has grown, so should the way that teachers approach teaching. 

The practice of reading a book, answering the questions at the end, and testing the students on these questions, is gone.  The teaching that needs to exist in today’s society is the act of educating a young person’s mind itself.  A teacher must not only teach a student the subject, but show them how to come up with the answer themselves.  For when a student understands the idea behind the subject, they will be able to apply this education to every part of their life-not just school.  When a teacher accomplishes this feat, they have become the teacher of teachers.
