The Death of Job Security

After a few structural changes in the economy, many people learn that the days of job security is over.

Unless you are fortunate enough to work as in the essential security functions for the government, there is no such thing as job security.

Many governments have outsourced the non core function and privatize many services. The British Airway is one example. Massive job loss is the result of privatization.

The only and truly job security is to work in the law enforcement team. However, many policemen die in the job. While they have job security, that does not guarantee that fatalities do not happen.

Many people working in big corporations thought that they have job security. They forget that a big corporation is a money making entity.

The top management can decide to close down the operation in your place, and move to a land of cheaper labor.

Job security is not in their agenda. After all, it is better for a few thousand workers to lose their jobs than for the senor management team to lose the job.

Job security is a thing of the past. We have seen the death of job security in many countries.

How do you cope with the death of job security?

The only way to cope is to embrace the concept of income security and work freedom.

It is possible to have income security despite not having job security.

If you take a look at many people around you, they enjoy income security as freelancers. They have the skills that are in demand.

The concept of work freedom has changed the world. The concept of work anywhere you like and anytime you like has changed the working culture in many corporations.

However, that does not mean that work is any easier.

Since the company does not control by working hours, the company has to place bigger demand on the quality of work.

That is why the concept of work freedom does not necessarily mean lesser work and higher pay.

The freedom of working anytime you want means you have to struggle with your kids, grocery shopping and yet get the work done.

The concept of work freedom and income security has change the compensation system as well.

Many people are working as freelancers, instead of employees. They can take on as much assignment as they want. They have to negotiate the pay rate.

They have to buy their own insurance.

They have income security as long as they have the skills to do the work. They can work for employers based in different parts of the world.
