Tips to be Efficient at Work
Some factors can negatively affect your performance so here’s a list of things to consider to increase your efficiency and thus your quality of life…
1. Start with the priorities
The first step is to classify what you have to do in terms of its importance and its urgency. Try to put it in the following categories:
- Important and urgent: to address before the rest
- Not important and urgent: can be delegated to someone
- Important but not urgent: to do after the urgent and important things
- Little bit urgent and important: to delegate or make last
2. Plan your tasks
Now that you have given great importance and urgency in your tasks, you can start planning your work. Register what must be done on that day, week, month, year and try to keep.
Have clear objectives and well defined in your mind and on paper is part of the work done. Congratulations!
3. Organize, store, organize!
It is not only the tasks that must be organized, your business, your files, your office and even your computer must be the object of your attention. A table with too many papers will leave you confused and you will lose time. Remember to group similar documents in one pocket, this will avoid wasting time and get them in the future. Spend a little time away will save you in the future and will avoid unnecessary stress.
4. Delegate
Remember to delegate what you can, especially the small things that make you lose precious time. Think about e-mails, management blows son of unwanted or printing documents. If you could delegate such tasks to someone else, you save valuable time.
5. Remember to say “no”
Be aware of your limits, you can not accept more work than you can really do. Maybe you do and can get a promotion? What you perhaps forget is that you will end up being less efficient, more frustrated and stressed.
6. Use the right tools
Use a stamp with your signature to avoid having to sign too many documents. If you have a choice, opt instead for a laptop so you can use it wherever you wish. Remember to keep you around a notebook to record what goes through your head and you do not want to forget unless you prefer a little more technology as a PDA.
7. Move
Make physical exercise will reduce your stress and voter anxiety. Playing sports will allow you to keep a healthy body and to release tension of the day which will have a direct positive effect on the quality of your life and your work. Even at the office, take breaks and take time to stretch. Take the stairs instead of the elevator when possible and get up to go to the photocopier.
8. Get enough sleep
If you are tired you will not stay focused and you will find it hard to work. Try to know your needs sleep (7 to 8 hours a night usually but some people only need 4 hours of sleep to be in shape) and try to get enough sleep. If it is possible for you and you feel the need, take a nap of 15 to 30 minutes during the day to recover.
9. Think of your meals
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it gives you energy to work and stay focused throughout the morning. Do not neglect them.
Against by noon, eat light. If you eat too much, you’re likely to feel tired during the day. Rather take a light lunch and a snack to keep fit in the afternoon.
