Work Addiction: When You Work Just for Working
Addiction is something you do in order to get immediate satisfaction. Work addiction is satisfaction you get just by working, with no money interfering or any other reward playing a role. Working just for working.
Are you addicted to work?
Addiction starts with motivation. In order to being addicted to something you need to have a motive to do that. Most people who are addicted to work are either addicted to money, success, action or pleasure (in rare cases, most people hate their jobs). Motivation can be positive or negative. Positive motivation is that one that makes you run to a cafe to buy a Coke and negative motivation is that one that makes you run away from a dangerous fury dog.
What is your motivation to work? Mine is money. Yours is the same too. I respect the most the people that say they work just for the money. They tell you very clearly what they want and the only thing they want. All other people that say they work to make good, they just want to be labeled as good people, yet they still WANT something from you or the world, maybe not measurable in a number (yet) but still wanted.
When you work for the good of others you are probably not making any good at all. What is for the good of others? It all depends on your label, your dictionary which is different from all other people’s dictionaries. Words are powerful yet subjective, only numbers have objectivity. When you say “I want to make 100.000$ a month or a year” you are making an objective statement, when you say “I want to do all the good I can” this is not good at all, after all you do not even know what “all good” is.
Look at the list of the richest. If money is bad and evil and those who make it are related to the Satan of your religion, then why the people there are the ones that make the most and the best for the world?
Think about it.
